Diane P. Reeder

Diane P. Reeder has more than 30 years experience providing consulting, strategy, communications, and outreach and services to governments, businesses, educational institutions, non-profits and authors. She has extensive experience in the areas of community outreach and DEI, having worked with Detroit-area organizations in conducting strategic planning sessions, securing federal, state, local, corporate and foundation grants (more than $20 million raised), and developing communications and training collateral and materials for community, educational and faith-based​ programs. She has participated in and co-led efforts to engage governments and community stakeholders in strategies to form public-private partnerships designed to spur economic growth in Southeastern Michigan.

Background

Diane is an author, editor and playwright who has been published by Our Daily Bread. She was selected by Wayne State University Press and the Millender Foundation to author the biography of the late Robert L. Millender, Sr., a major Detroit historic political figure who was instrumental in orchestrating the ascendancy of Detroit’s first African American mayor, Coleman A. Young. Her book, What the Word BE: Why Black English is the King’s (James) English! named as one of the “Top Black Books of 2014” by former NAACP Image Award Board Member and book reviewer Kam Williams, and was also featured by the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF) at their annual gathering as well as by the Harlem Book Fair. Her plays have been seen throughout the Midwest. She has edited books by more than 20 authors in a range of topics including memoir, spirituality, child-rearing, professional development, and fiction.

 

Diane is a member of The Great Lakes Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, an African American women's professional and service organization; and of the Detroit Study Club, an African American women's organization founded in 1898.
